EPD for Vexve district energy valves

Vexve has acquired EPDs for its district energy valves. The third-party verified document will help Vexve’s customers make informed decisions and promote sustainable development.

Vexve started the process of acquiring the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for the majority of its district energy valve offering in 2024. The EPD is a third-party certified document that provides a comprehensive analysis of the environmental impact of Vexve valves throughout their life cycle, from the extraction and processing of raw materials to their manufacture, transport, use and disposal or recycling.

The EPD documentation will not only increase the transparency of Vexve’s production process and products but also provide its customers with valuable information.

“We have strong demand for EPDs regarding Vexve district energy products as customers are beginning to seek low-carbon products with proven and transparent environmental impact,” explains Vexve’s ESG Development Manager Mia Piirainen.

The EPDs are a natural continuation of Vexve’s long-standing sustainability work and in addition to customer benefits, support Vexve’s vision to be a leading provider of mission-critical valve solutions in the transition to a low-carbon future.

“Because the life cycle analysis provides us with more detailed information about the environmental impacts of different materials and manufacturing processes, we can also use the information in future product development,” Mia says.

EPDs are available for the following Vexve district energy valve products:

  • Stainless steel floating ball valves, DN 15–250
  • Steel floating ball valves, DN 10–500
  • Steel trunnion mounted ball valves, DN 125–400
  • Butterfly valves (verification process begins in March 2025)

You can find the current EPDs from the download centre and EPD Hub (search Vexve).
