Prioritizing safety – every day, everywhere

April 28 marks the World Day for Safety and Health at Work – a global reminder of the importance of protecting employees’ wellbeing. At Vexve, safety is not a one-day event, but a daily priority across all our operations.

We are committed to building a strong, unified safety culture. Our long-term goal is to achieve Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) of zero. By monitoring this and other key safety indicators, and by supporting local initiatives, we aim to ensure that everyone at Vexve returns home safe and healthy.

Shared guidelines across all factories

One major step in strengthening our group-wide safety culture was the introduction of unified Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidance last year. All Vexve employees and visitors now follow the same basic rules when entering any factory – including safety training for visitors and unified mandatory PPE’s. Local additions are included where needed, but the core standard is shared by all units. This unified approach ensures consistency, professionalism, and safety – no matter the location.

Focus areas and recent improvements

Each Vexve site develops an annual safety plan based on its own needs. In 2025, our focus areas include lifting safety, employee participation, ergonomics and overall improvement of safety culture.

Concrete actions are already underway. In Sastamala and Laitila, new safety practices for subcontractors have been implemented and we’re developing the Occupational Health and Safety Committee practices. Our Finnish factories also earned the highest national safety classification – for the second year in a row.

In Dolní Benešov, we have installed traffic mirrors at critical intersections and introduced regular management safety walks. The Czech team is also working on a new ventilation project to improve air quality in the welding area. Earlier this year, the site reached over 200 consecutive days without a lost time injury – a new local milestone.

In Niederzier, where large valves for the petrochemical industry are handled daily, special attention is given to lifting safety. The German team has updated its lifting practices and now primarily uses lifting chains, which offer better durability and reduce the risk of accidents when moving heavy components with sharp edges.

In Denmark, key steps forward include the integration of the Slagelse factory into our Group-wide LTIFR and TRIF reporting as well as the implementation of updated safety instructions for all visitors.

Continuous improvement across Vexve

This year, external safety assessments were conducted by ICG Innotiimi in Finland, Czechia, and Germany to support further development. These insights will help us identify opportunities for further improvement, align our safety practices and take the next steps in building a safer workplace for everyone.
