The A2A Group built a new ring network in the San Siro district connecting two underground district heating networks.

The A2A Group, which is responsible for the district heating network in Milan, built a new ring network in the San Siro district connecting two underground district heating networks. Vexve's pre-insulated DN 400 metal seated butterfly valves, DN 500 full bore ball valves, Hydrox actuators and HCU control units were selected for the project.

During the first delivery, Vexve and Sfera Energy Solutions also held commissioning and maintenance training for end-user A2A.

During installation, the pre-insulated valves were buried two meters underground. Access to the actuators for possible maintenance operations was achieved by installing service chambers around them.

Hydrox actuators enable valves to be remotely operated without any electrical current being installed underground. In this project, the hydraulic actuator control units were installed in separate chambers below the street level. The HCU Remote unit enables the manual operation of valves on site as well as remote control.
